Scott's A Winner
RANGERS fan Scott Earley, of Easthall, Easterhouse, has been announced as the latest winner of the Clydesdale Bank Community Award.
He coaches Easthall Football Club Under 13s and was nominated for the award by Easthall FC Manager Andrew Gilbert.
While Andrew deals with the managerial duties of running Easthall FC, he charges Scott with running the football side of the club, working specifically with Easthall's under 13 team.
Scott invests virtually all of his spare time in the coaching and development of the youngster, giving all the boys involved in the team the chance to develop their game and benefit from his coaching skills.
Scott has been with the club for three seasons, coaching with around 18 boys each campaign.
Easterhouse is an area of Glasgow that is often viewed as territorial and in nominating Scott for the award, Andrew cited the great success he has had in integrating youngsters from all over Easterhouse into Easthall FC, ensuring the players get to and from their football safely and feel a sense of pride in representing the club.
Andrew said: "I believe Scott to be an outstanding young person and feel he deserves recognition for all his hard work and dedication to a worthy cause."
Scott, a lifelong Gers supporter, recently received his award at Murray Park from Northern Ireland midfielder Steve Davis.
As part of the prize, Clydesdale Bank will also donate £100 to Easthall FC on Scott's behalf.
On receiving his award Scott said: "I'm really pleased to win this award and would like to thank Andy for nominating me and Libby Brown (Club Secretary) for all her help.
"I really enjoy working with all the boys at Easthall Under 13s - they're all really into the coaching and the games and they've been brilliant to coach over the last few years."
Earlier this year, Scott was further recognised for his voluntary work with Easthall FC when he was selected as a torchbearer for part of the Olympic Torch relay in London in April.
Scott received the torch from Team GB Paralympian Ali Jawad before handing over to England cricket captain Kevin Peitersen.
