Follow With Pride
RANGERS stars and supporters have joined forces to launch 'Follow With Pride' - a new campaign to promote sporting behaviour at matches and in the community.
The joint initiative between the Club and supporters succeeds the successful Pride Over Prejudice campaign that has been running for the past five years and which focused heavily on combating sectarianism.
Follow With Pride will build on this success but will focus on positive initiatives designed to promote the Rangers family, friendship and sportsmanship, both on and off the pitch.
Sandy Jardine, Ally McCoist, Barry Ferguson and Under 19 captain Dean Furman - who span the eras of Rangers stars - lined up with supporters in front of four giant flags which will represent all four stands at Ibrox this season.
Ally McCoist said: "Everyone at Ibrox is committed to showing Rangers in the best possible light on and off the field and that's why we're launching Follow With Pride.
"Follow With Pride is all about promoting sporting behaviour among fans and the great work the Club does in bringing together all types of people in the community.
"Follow With Pride also recognises the rights and responsibilities of being a Rangers fan. The Club is constantly under the spotlight and our fans, more than anyone else, realise the importance of setting high standards of behaviour. For the good of everyone at the Club, we want to get that message across and show what a fantastic Club this is."
Martin Bain, Chief Executive, said: "This new campaign demonstrates the many positive things we do at Rangers to encourage sportsmanship and friendship, not just at matches, but in the community.
"We made real progress with Pride Over Prejudice which focused primarily on sectarianism and the fans deserve great credit for the way they responded. Now, it is time to take things to a new level and that is what we are doing with Follow With Pride. This campaign has been developed in conjunction with supporters and allows us to bring together a whole range of initiatives to expand and enhance the Rangers family."
The Follow With Pride Campaign includes:
*Follow With Pride messages from players, management, staff and supporters
*Regular forums with a wide range of supporters to discuss and develop Follow With Pride initiatives
*A new stewarding initiative
*Follow With Pride messages and imagery in all Rangers media, on jumbotrons, website and marketing materials
*Updated Wee Blue Book with song list and Follow With Pride messages
*Revised matchday entertainment to incorporate the Follow With Pride campaign
*Expanding Rangers 'Football in the Community' initiatives which have already involved 600,000 children and adults in education, employment, health, literacy, sport, anti-drugs and anti-sectarian programmes
*Continued 'self-policing' drive by supporters groups to tackle inappropriate behaviour
*Wide range of sanctions against supporters who engage in unacceptable conduct, including lifetime and indefinite bans
Kenny Scott, Security and Operations Manager, said: "It's great that the supporters are involved in such a big way. We want to show the good that Rangers does but also send out a very clear message that the Club and its true fans will not tolerate any form of unacceptable behaviour, home or away.
"The new SFA and SPL regulations which have now been circulated to the clubs cover all forms of 'unacceptable behaviour', including sectarianism and racism.
"This means that Clubs may be punished in the domestic league for inappropriate behaviour by their fans, including points deductions and heavy fines. No-one at Rangers wants to see that happen."
Davie Macintosh of The Blue Order said: "I'm really looking forward to hearing the Broomloan singing even more this season and I'm sure all the fans will be right behind the new Follow With Pride campaign. We are really going to up the anti in terms of stadium atmosphere this season with a few new plans of our own including using megaphones and each stand having its own design of flag."
Malky Macpherson from the Copland Stand added: "It's great the fans have been involved in contributing to Follow With Pride as it's exactly how we feel about the Club. We are proud to be Rangers fans and I believe the campaign will be a great success."
