HAD to bide his time before replacing George Niven, but became a hugely influential figure in the famous team of the early 60s, which fans still rhyme off today.

Like Niven he could boast a one in three shut-out record which is excellent for a goalkeeper.

One of his greatest games was the 1961 Cup Winners' Cup semi-final at Molineux against Wolves, which helped Rangers to the final.
