Player of the Year
WHEN Walter Smith returned to Rangers as manager for a second time in January 2007, few could have foreseen the wonderful rebuilding job he would go on to do.
The Ibrox legend made an instant impact on the team and achieved a significant turnaround, securing second in the SPL, a place in the UEFA Champions League and two back-to-back wins against Old Firm rivals Celtic.
A total of 13 new players joined Rangers in the summer, allowing the new-look squad to mount strong challenges for the new campaign at home and abroad.
In the SPL, Rangers are back in title contention again and have every hope of adding the SPL and Scottish Cup to the League Cup they have already won.
Likewise, their efforts in Europe have taken them to the latter stages of the UEFA Cup, with the likes of Stuttgart, Olympique Lyonnais and Werder Bremen beaten on the way.
Several key players have come to the fore in a memorable few months and now their work as individuals is set to be acknowledged.
This year's Player of the Year Awards at the Hilton Glasgow on Monday 19 May will recognise the poise and passion which has got Rangers back on the trophy trail.
You can be there to find out who will take this season's Player of the Year award and see the other category winners being presented with their trophies.
