Goals from Andy Webster, Kris Boyd and Chris Burke sealed a comfortable victory for Rangers in the opening pre-season match against Guetersloh.

Walter Smith chose to field the same team for the entire match and it was a good night's work by those 11 players as they ran out 3-0 winners.

As expected, Rangers totally dominated the game against their semi-professional opponents Guetersloh, who play in the fourth division here in Germany.

After three minutes Chris Burke released Boyd down the right and when his first time pass found Alan Gow through the middle, the former Falkirk man tried a cheeky chip over the keeper and fired wide.

Burke again orchestrated the play with seven minutes gone, this time on the left to release Papac and although the Bosnian defender did brilliantly to whip in a cross, Boyd just couldn't reach in time at the far post.

Christian Knappmann came closest in the opening stages for Guetersloh when he struck a fierce free kick from 25-yards, but it fizzed just over Alan McGregor's bar.

Rangers finally made their pressure count after 13 minutes when Webster converted Burke's free kick from the right, after Alan Hutton was fouled.

The defender broke free in the centre of the box to send a bulleting header into the net.

Eight minutes before the break the same combination almost succeeded again when the former Wigan defender rose unmarked to head on target, but Alex Kuschmann held well.

Hutton's powerful running caused Guetersloh endless problems in the first 45 minutes and he won Gers a penalty two minutes before half time.

Kris Boyd celebratesThe 22-year-old burst into the box and Daniel Eckel's careless tackle left the referee with no option but to point to the spot. Boyd stepped up and curled home confidently.

Guetersloh created two excellent chances at the beginning of the second period with McGregor producing a couple of fine saves to firstly deny Gazwan Avakhti and then Knappmann.

After 67 minutes DaMarcus Beasley showed a glimpse of his skill down the left when he raced on to Gow's pass and then beat his man inside the area, but his final cross could not find Boyd.

Burke rounded off a competent performance by netting the third goal 15 minutes from time and it was good individual effort.

After collecting possession on the byline he skipped past several defenders to make space, before drilling a left footed shot low into the net.

Watched by a crowd of 1,850 the manager is sure to be satisfied with his side's work out ahead of Friday's clash with Lippstadt.
