Neil AlexanderWalter Smith's proud squad will have to lift themselves for Saturday's must win SPL clash against Motherwell at Fir Park.

This will be the first of four crucial games in seven days for the Gers' stars but Neil is confident that both he and his teammates can deal with the hectic schedule that lies ahead.

"We have a massive game on Saturday and a massive week ahead so it is so important we remain focused on what needs to be done.

"We have a never say die spirit within our squad and we have the character in the Dressing Room to bounce back from this disappointment.

"In the end I think we have surprised a lot of people in Europe this season and if we can go on and win all our domestic trophies it is a remarkable achievement.

"Getting to a European final has been a bonus and we are disappointed not to win as we fancied our chances.

"It wasn't to be but there is always next year."

Neil is immensely proud of what Rangers have achieved in Europe this season but conceeded that their final opponents Zenit St Petersburg were the better side on the night in Manchester. Kris Boyd and his Rangers team-mates after the Zenit defeat

He said: "We are gutted really, very disappointed but I thought we gave a good account of ourselves and can be proud to have got to the final.

"We can hold our heads high.

"I think Zenit were always going to be a very good side, we could see that after their results leading up to the final.

"They have a few very gifted players, have spent a lot of money and prepared correctly for the game.

"But take nothing away from our lads as I though we played well.

"We maybe just didn't create that little spark that was needed in the last third that could have got us a goal.

"We had a few half chances but nothing clear cut which is disappointing.

"It was not to be our night but I am sure all the fans are still proud of the team for all they have done in Europe this season."
