Rangers have beaten German side SC Preussen Munster 1-0 in their first pre-season friendly this afternoon. Here's how the action panned out.

From Andrew Dickson at the Preussen Stadion

FT - PREUSSEN MUNSTER 0-1 RANGERS. There are no further goals but Rangers are much better in the second 45 minutes and deserve their narrow win. Kenny Miller is probably the pick of Walter Smith's players with a good performance on his return to the club.

87 mins - This just isn't Novo's day. He has looked really lively since he has come on and teams up well with Darcheville before trying unsuccessfully to chip the keeper.Kenny Miller

84 mins - It's a terrific threaded pass from Miller after quick feet by the striker and he released Novo, who slots in well from 18 yards but finds he is offside.

81 mins - Adam goes down with an apparent ankle injury and that's not good news for Gers. Beasley has already departed with a hamstring problem and John Fleck takes his place.

79 mins - Adam spots the Buchholz off his line and tries an audacious chip over him from 50 yards but there's no danger of the ball dropping in. Darcheville's furious with him and rightly so.

78 mins - Miller surges forward from the halfway line and takes his time before picking out Novo with a perfect pass. He's through on Buchholz and looks sure to score but the big keeper makes another good stop. His first-half mistake aside, he's had a decent game.

75 mins - Some nifty footwork by Darcheville takes him clear of his man and his cross is a good one. It gets put behind for a corner but Rangers waste it.

Walter Smith73 mins - Sure enough, Beasley makes way for South African midfielder Furman. After he made his debut at the end of last season, he'll be keen to impress.

71 mins - DaMarcus Beasley gives good chase as he loses possession but in doing so looks to pull up slightly. With Dean Furman warming up, he could come on for the American.

63 mins - Papac makes great progress to get into a goalscoring position but rather than put his foot through the ball, he tries to tee up Darcheville and with the striker not expecting a pass, the chance goes.

60 mins - Preussen make three substitutions as we reach the hour mark but there's no sign of any more change by Rangers at the moment.

59 mins - Novo does well on the right and Miller manages to get to his cross despite being second-favourite to take possession. The striker looks certain to score but Buchholz makes an excellent save.

53 mins - It's a free kick for Munster and substitute Ivica Ivicevic takes it. As it soars over the bar, it just keeps on rising and doesn't look like coming down again in a hurry.

50 mins - Miller comes so close to the first goal of his second Light Blues stint! Darcheville sets him up and a neat touch takes him in on goal - although he beats the keeper, his effort smacks off the face of the post.David Weir

48 mins - Novo almost makes an immediate impact but fouls keeper Buchholz as he goes up with him for a high ball. Although Lee McCulloch rolls into the empty net, a foul has already been given.

46 mins - Play gets underway again and Rangers have made one change at the break. It's not too surprising that Thomson has been removed from play, with Nacho Novo on to replace him.

HT - PREUSSEN MUNSTER 0-1 RANGERS. It hasn't been a great first-half showing from Gers but they've got the advantage at the midway point.

40 mins - Loose tries to level for Preussen but his effort loops behind with the aid of a deflection for a home corner and although the hosts can't make it count, the brilliantly-named Massih Wassey does force a good stop from Alexander moments later.

39 mins - Thomson is really lucky to stay on the park after a late challenge. He's made a few of them today and his over-enthusiasm could soon prove costly.

38 mins - It's a yellow card for home player Massimo Ornatello after a crunching tackle on Sasa Papac. He joins Thomson in the book, who was cautioned earlier.

Kenny Miller36 mins - GOAL! It's the first goal of the summer for Rangers and Adam is the scorer. He rolls a cool penalty low into the bottom right-hand corner with his left foot and sends Buchholz the wrong way.

35 mins - PENALTY! Miller plays a clever ball through for Darcheville to chase and he gets to it ahead of Buchholz, who hauls him down. If this had been a competitive game, there's every chance the keeper would have been sent off.

26 mins - Rangers haven't really got going yet and their performance has been fairly low-key but Dailly tries to spark them into life with a long ball up to Darcheville, only for Buchholz to beat the Frenchman to it.

21 mins - Loose is the most prominent player on the park at the moment and he cuts back to Marius Sowislo, whose shot is scrambled off the line by Dailly at the back post.

18 mins - Back come Gers and Adam centres another corner, with Dailly nodding just over the upright after home keeper David Buchholz comes for the ball and misses.

17 mins - Preussen respond with a shot of their own after good build-up play by Loose but Neil Alexander holds the ball well.

16 mins - Miller and Jean-Claude Darchville link up well, with the Frenchman through on a goal and a last-gasp tackle all that stops him from getting his effort on target.Jean-Claude Darcheville

10 mins - Miller does well to win Gers their first corner and Charlie Adam swings it in, picking out Christian Dailly. His knock-down lands at David Weir's feet but he can't convert.

9 mins - Rangers are starting to find their rhythm now and Steven Whittaker knocks the ball upfield to Kenny Miller but he is caught offside.

5 mins - Julian Loose releases the ball from a tight angle and only succeeds in finding the side-netting. Preussen are the team coming forward more at present but they aren't doing much with their possession.

2 mins - Preussen win a free kick and although it deflects behind from 25 yards, the resulting corner again poses little threat.

0 mins - After almost three weeks of training, Rangers' first pre-season game is finally underway. The hosts kick off and quickly force a corner, which comes to nothing.
