From Lindsay Herron at the Veltins Arena

WALTER SMITH has selected an attacking formation for today's glamour friendly with Schalke 04 with Kenny Miller, Jean-Claude Darcheville and Nacho Novo all starting.

Novo is liable to play on the right with Miller and Darcheville given licence to stretch the Germans' defence.

Christian Dailly has been given a holding role in midfield and that means that Kirk Broadfoot has been chosen to partner Davie Weir at centre back.

As expected Carlos Cuellar has not made it but Andrius Velicka is on the bench and should come on at some stage.

However, there is no place in the squad for Kris Boyd.

Despite the sunny weather, Rangers will play under the roof in the magnificent Veltins Arena.
