Gers To Face Kaunas
RANGERS will face FBK Kaunas in the Champions League after the Lithuanians completed a 7-2 aggregate win over Andorran side Santa Coloma.
Walter Smith had the second leg watched as Kaunas secured a 3-1 home win to see off the Andorran minnows in Lithuania.
Kaunas had a comfortable lead after a 4-1 victory in Andorra last week, a match watched by Ian Durrant and Ally McCoist.
And Linas Pilibatis, who grabbed a double in that first game was again on the scoresheet twice.
His opener came on 15 minutes, with Irman Zelmikas bagging the second 5 minutes later before a Coloma penalty pulled one back.
But a 36th minute red card for the away side's Norberto Urbani put paid to any thoughts of a comeback but the visitors held on until late in the game when Kaunas added a third again through Pilibatis.
So Smith will now prepare his team to face the Lithuanians on Wednesday July 30 at Ibrox with the return leg of the second qualifying round six days later.
