WALTER SMITH has confirmed today that Steven Davis will sign for Rangers within the next couple of days and that he is hopeful American midfielder Maurice Edu wil do the same this week.

A fee for Davis has been agreed with his current club Fulham which leaves the player free to put pen-to-paper after his personal requirements are met.

Davis' return to Ibrox will be another massive boost for the club after his successful spell on-loan during the second-half of last season.

Maurice EduSmith said: "We have now reached an agreement with Fulham for Steven Davis although we have a few thing to settle with the player himself and his representatives.

"But we are hopeful that will go through in the next couple of days.

This has been an ongoing saga but we will be delighted to welcome Steven back to the club when that goes through.

"In terms of Maurice Edu we have agreed with the MLS and the the player for him to come here although we still have to wait for a work permit.

"Hopefully we can be successful there.

"Maurice is a defensive midfielder who was recommended to us.

"We had a good look at him at the end of last season but the MLS were not prepared to sell at that time.

"They are now and I think he is a player with a very good future.

"I would hope that if the tribunal for his permit is successful we will have got ourselves a really good player.

"If we do get those two on top of the three strikers we have already brought in there is maybe only one more position we are looking to improve on."
