Hero Marv Could Be Back On Bench
by Lindsay Herron
GOAL hero Marvin Andrews may have to settle for a place back on the bench on Tuesday night despite his incredible efforts at Kilmarnock today.
Andrews scored with two headers and ended up with the captain's armband after coming on at half-time as Rangers ran out 3-1 winners to keep the heat on Hearts.
However, boss Alex McLeish may bring back Soto Kyrgiakos for the Hibs game on Tuesday after being suspended today.
McLeish said: "The punters will be clamouring for him to stay in the team after his two goals but I have to think what is best for the Hibs game and I will discuss it with the coaches.
"Marvin is a fantastic professional and a fantastic person. He has not complained about being left out. He took it on the chin and he has trained really hard and he is an example to everyone.
"It was a fantastic delivery for the first goal and he got that wee touch to put it away. It was his sheer presence that got him there and that got us level.
"We needed to change things at half-time because Nish was causing us a few problems. I was very disappointed with the goal we lost. It was poor defending and when you play for Rangers you need to defend better than that.
"The change inspired us, but, in saying that, we still had chances in the first half. We should have had a definite penalty in first half injury time when Buffel was taken down but the referee chose not to give it."
Inevitably Kris Boyd got on the scoresheet and Andrews clinched it with a second goal after great work from Burke.
McLeish added: "I'm not sure if Kris's header was going in but I hope he gets the goal. Burkey was brilliant for Marvin's second goal and we now hope that something gives for us in Hearts' game with Celtic tomorrow."
