DEAN FURMAN is hoping to take the next stage in his blossoming career by earning his first full international cap for South Africa when they take on Australia tonight.

Dean FurmanThe 20-year-old has been drafted into Joel Santana's squad for the friendly which will be played at Loftus Road, the home of Queens Park Rangers, in London.

Dean made his debut for Walter Smith's team against Dundee United on May 10 but admits that playing for his country against the Aussies would be another moment to treasure.

He said: "Being picked for your country is a very special feeling and I was over the moon when I heard that I had been selected for the squad.

"It will be a great experience for me to be with all the players and if I can get even a couple of minutes on the pitch against Australia I will be delighted.

"Obviously my aim will be to impress the manager because the next few years will be massive for South African football.

"To play in the World Cup finals in 2010 in South Africa would be a dream and that is the incentive there for every player."
