HAVING come through the Murray Park youth ranks, Charlie Adam enjoyed a terrific season in 2006/07 scoring 14 goals from midfield.
The talented youngster was a permanent fixture in Ibrox youth sides and eventually bagged a place in the top team bench against Motherwell in April 2004.
Alex McLeish then handed the Dundee-born midfielder his debut against Livingston in April 2004 and his first start at Dunfermline a month later.
He enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Ross County during the 2004/05 campaign - scoring a sensational goal against St Mirren from the halfway line.
Ironically he then went on loan to the Love Street outfit and helped them win the First Division and the Challenge Cup.
He returned in the summer to Ibrox to play for Rangers under new boss Paul Le Guen and has thanked the Frenchman for giving him a chance in the first-team on his return.
Charlie continued to grow in stature as the season progressed, scoring the first goal of Walter Smith's second reign before a brilliant free-kick in the 2-0 win over Celtic on May 11 capped a hugely memorable 12 months.
He was rewarded for his efforts by being named Young Player of the Year for 2006/07 by the club's supporters.
That summer he put pen to paper on a new five year deal that would run until the summer of 2012 and he carried good form in to the start of the 2007/08 season.
However competition for places in midfield restricted his opportunities in the starting line-up and he managed only 24 appearances from the first minute.
With similar issues causing him to spend more time on the sidelines at the start of the 2008/09 season Adam opted to make a loan switch to Blackpool in the January transfer window.
After enjoying a successful spell south of the border Adam returned to Murray Park in the summer of 2009 to bid for a return to Walter Smith's first team plans as the Gers aim to retain their SPL title.
