BOSNIAN international Papac was the third player to join Rangers from FK Austria at the start of the 2006/07 season, following in the footsteps of Libor Sionko and Filip Sebo.

Papac was discovered by Austrian side FC Karnten while playing for Bosnia's under-21 side against the Austrian national team.

In Austria's southern province Sasa was turned into a left-sided defender in a season that saw Karnten unfortunately relegated.

However Papac did enough to earn a move to Vienna were he flourished as a player and clearly impressed former Gers' assistant boss Yves Colleu when he watched FK Austria in action.

Sasa PapacOriginally signed as a centre half Papac has been converted to left back and has worked hard to make the position his own since Walter Smith's return to Rangers.

A total of 46 appearances in the 2007/08 season saw Papac miss only one of Rangers' 19 European matches and start in both domestic cup finals and the UEFA Cup final in Manchester.

The 2008/09 season saw Papac encouraged to get forward more often from his defensive role and he broke his scoring duck when he found the net in a 3-3 draw with Dundee United to register his first goal for the club after more than 80 matches.

Shortly after that goal he confirmed his desire to continue his career in Glasgow when he put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2011.

Papac was another member of Walter Smith's squad to get his first taste of title success at the end of a season in which he was among the team's most consistent performers.
