ALAN GOW officially became a Rangers player when his Falkirk contract expired at the beginning of June 2007 but travelled with the rest of the Light Blues squad to America at the end of May for the friendly with LA Galaxy. He has signed a three-year deal.

An attacking midfielder who can play both centrally or wide left, Gow started his career with Clydebank before moving to Airdrie United in 2002.

Rangers, and Birmingham City, had been reportedly interested in the player - a lifelong Bluenose - at that time but serious injury prevented either club from taking their interest any further.

"Gowser" then spent three seasons at New Broomfield racking up 84 appearances and scoring 25 goals before a move to Falkirk in the summer of 2005 materialised following the Bairns' promotion to the top flight.

He was one of Falkirk's leading figures as they successfully retained their SPL status in 2005/06 and then forged a potent strike partnership with on-loan star Anthony Stokes in the first half of the following season.

That once more alerted Rangers to his availability, with Walter Smith having several bids for the player turned down during the January 2007 transfer window.

It led to the player signing a pre-contract agreement shortly after to move to Ibrox the following summer.

He made his debut for the Scotland B side against Finland in February 2007, appearing as a substitute and scoring in a 2-2 draw.

He marked his final appearance for Falkirk in May 2007 by scoring in a 3-0 defeat of Dunfermline.
