NORTHERN IRELAND international Lafferty first came to light when he debuted for Burnley in a 2-1 defeat at Crewe Alexandra in August 2005.
He was soon sent on loan to Darlington and scored three times in nine games for them before returning to Turf Moor to net his first goal for the Clarets against Luton.
In total, Lafferty scored 10 times for Burnley before his long-projected move to Glasgow was confirmed
The 6' 4" forward has also claimed a number of goals for his country and his work-rate has been cited as a major factor in David Healy's magnificent goals return for the Province.
Lafferty's contribution at Ibrox was hindered in the early days after his arrival when a back problem on a pre season tour of Germany in the summer of 2008 disrupted his integration in to the squad.
He was however fit enough to start the opening SPL game in which he set up the only goal for Andrius Velicka, before marking his home debut with a goal against Hearts.
Lafferty was then ruled out for a month, before returning to the team and playing wide on the left of Walter Smith's midfield.
The Rangers boss admitted it was not Lafferty's preferred role, and that he planned to move the Ulsterman up front in the long term.
The former Burnley man was given the chance against Celtic as a lone striker and showed his ability to hold the ball and work for the team.
Just as he was enjoying his best run of form for his new club he picked up another injury when he turned his ankle in a game against Hearts at Ibrox.
He had notched his 8th goal for the club in that fixture before being substituted, but would not be seen back in the side until the Jambos returned to Ibrox six weeks later.
His return was a boost for Walter Smith as he prepared his side for a tight title run in, and Lafferty proved his worth with the opening goal on the day the league flag was clinched at Tannadice.
A Scottish Cup winner's medal capped a fine first season for the lifelong Rangers supporter who will look forward to the chance to test himself in the Champions League.
