RANGERS signed versatile defender Christian Dailly on a short-term deal from West Ham until the end of the season.
Gers took over the Scotland international's Upton Park contract to bring him north as a replacement for Ugo Ehiogu, who left for Sheffield United.
At 34, Dailly brings a vast amount of experience with him to Ibrox. Capped 66 times by his country, he and his Light Blues colleague David Weir are the only two players still in the national squad that played at the 1998 World Cup.
Once the most-capped under-21 international player in the world, Dailly left first club Dundee United for Derby County in a £500,000 transfer in August 1996.
Prior to that, he turned out against Rangers as the Arabs won 1-0 in the 1994 Scottish Cup final.
Dailly's stock rose considerably with the Rams and he switched to Blackburn Rovers just two years later for £5.3million.
His most recent employers were West Ham, where he spent seven years and turned out 191 times for the Hammers.
He was the longest-serving player in Alan Curbishley's squad until his switch to Ibrox, but he had spent the first half of this season on loan to English Championship side Southampton.
Although he was out of favour at West Ham, the player has remained a regular in the Scotland set-up.
Indeed, he has been selected with five other Rangers players to attend a national team gathering at Cameron House next week.
Moving north of the border again sees Dailly reunited with Walter Smith, whom he worked alongside when the Rangers manager was in charge of the national team.
Dailly comes to Gers as the ideal back-up for regular central defensive pair Weir and Carlos Cuellar and his adaptability will be a major asset as he can play anywhere across the back line or as a holding midfielder.
